Matthew 27
 
1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
 
2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
 
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
 
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
 
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
 
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
 
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
 
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
 
9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
 
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
 
11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
 
12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
 
13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
 
14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
 
15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
 
16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
 
17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
 
18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
 
19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
 
20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
 
21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
 
22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
 
23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
 
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
 
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
 
26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
 
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
 
28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
 
29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
 
30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
 
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
 
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
 
33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
 
34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
 
35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
 
36 And sitting down they watched him there;
 
37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
 
38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
 
39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
 
40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
 
41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
 
42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
 
43He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
 
44The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
 
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
 
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
 
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

"I returned to Dr. Gliedman's essay.

I read the following sentence: "The mind is not the playwright of reality."

At that moment there came a knocking on the side of the house. This was a substantial noise, very regular and sharp. The knocks were so exactly spaced that they sounded like they were being produced by a machine. Both cats were riveted with terror. They stared at the wall. The knocks went on, nine of them in three groups of three, followed by a tenth lighter double-knock that communicated an impresssion of finality.

These knocks were coming from just below the line of the roof, at a spot approximately eighteen feet above the gravel driveway. Below the point of origin of the knocks were two open windows. Had anybody been out on the driveway with a ladder I would certainly have heard their movements on the gravel.

In addition, to get a ladder to that point they would have activated the movement-sensitive lights. But it was dark beeyond the windows.

It would be next to impossible to stand on the sharply angled roof that covers the living room of the cabin. While the angle of the roof above the upstairs bedroom is almost flat, this roof is extremely steep. What's more, I would cerrtainly have heard anybody crawling around on the roof. There would have been creaks and groans from the boards, and there is no question but that I would have noticed the sounds, given the profound silence of the country night.

I am absolutely dead certain about the reality of the knocks. They were not made by the house settling. Nothing but an intentional act could have produced such loud, evenly spaced sounds. They were not a prank being played by neighbors. In the summer of 1986 I had not yet told my neighbors about the visitors. What's more, the prank explaanation was hopelessly impractical.

cannot be put down to disease. Such a thing is not a sympptom. My cats would not have reacted to something happenning in my mind. I am reporting a true event. It was the first definite, physical indication I had while in a state of completely normal consciousness that the visitors were part of this world.

They were responding to my attempts to develop the relationship and accept my fear by making their physical reality more plain.

The stunning event of August 27, 1986, strengthened my wavering resolve to keep the matter where it belongs, which is in question. It is an awfully serious business, and it cannot be removed from question except as we learn more facts. Should we decide to believe something about this that is not true, we will ruin it for ourselves. We will form yet another mythology around the visitors, as I suspect we have been doing throughout our history.

The moment after the nine knocks I thought to go outside. I also thought, You're not ready yet. You just go up to bed.

The next morning I thought that was exactly what I had done. But there was something wrong. While the knocks were taking place I was unquestionably in a normal state of mind. As soon as I began to move from the chair, though, I feel that I may have entered another state.

Unfortunately, I did not remember that something may have happened after the knocks until weeks later. On the morning after, my immediate thought was that I had failed miserably. The visitors had come, had knocked-and I'd just sat there, too scared even to open the door!

I therefore don:t know whether I concocted the subseequent memories to make myself feel better, or if they were hidden by a more prosaic screen memory.

One day I glanced at the clock on our videotape machine and suddenly remembered seeing it when it said 2:18 A.M. An instant later I recalled that I'd seen it reading that time as I went upstairs on the night of the nine knocks. But they

The being behind me thrust a stool under me and I sat down rather abruptly.
The one at the desk asked, speaking in normal English, "Why did you bring the cat?"
Sadie, in my arms, was looking around. Her eyes were wide.
''I'm reality-testing," I replied.
There followed a scene of the most frank and total con­fusion that I have ever witnessed. They literally looked at each other as if I were completely crazy. At this point I noticed a change in the ambience of the room. It was like a sort of mental pressure being exerted on me. It became very powerful. It seemed to be something that would compel me to speak the truth. I suddenly felt a need to really explain that cat!
"I've made the cats a part of the family," I heard myself saying. It felt like this was a deep, deep truth. "They have to be taken when we're taken. They have to participate in the life of the family. It's their right."
The one behind the desk glared at me. "We'll have to put the cat to sleep."
Now I felt a sense of being a co-conspirator, and I was aware that I had felt this way with the visitors before, but I had no idea when this might have been. I replied, "We can't

There was a short silence. Finally the one behind the desk said, "No, put to sleep for now."
At that the young woman beside me stepped forward, removing from her case a small object made of what looked like two triangular pieces of brass with rounded edges. She placed a flat side of this against Sadie's thigh and the cat at once sank into unconsciousness. Her breast heaved twice and then she was more than asleep, she was as still as death.
I understood perfectly well that they could bring her back to life. At that moment I remembered having seen this done to people many dozens of times.
The one who seemed to be doing all the talking asked me, "What can we do to help you?"
The sensation of my mind being under pressure got stronger. It was as if I had been entered by an overwhelm­ingly powerful force that would not allow me to say any­thing except the absolute, deepest truth. It felt like an actual, physical pressure, as if some disembodied awareness had gone inside me and there acquired mass, form, and force.
I could have asked for some physical proof of the visi­tors' existence. I could have asked them to enter my world with me instead of hanging back in this half-reality. But I did not care about those things, not down deep. At the deepest level of myself I knew at that moment exactly what I wanted and needed. If a coherent and useful relationship was ever to develop between me and the visitors, I had to reduce my fear.
I replied, "You could help me fear you less. "
There was a long, silent moment. Then an answer seemed to emerge from all of them. "We will try, but it will be very hard,"
After that the young woman stepped behind me and ap­plied her little brass device to my neck for a moment. The next morning there was a small raised knot with a red spot where she had touched me. The next thing I knew I was being taken by the being who had come to get me in the

my "electric body," separated from the physical. I could feel a sort of substance surrounding the needle, seeming to coat it, which fell away under my electric touch. Is this how it feels to touch one electric body with another?
We ignore the reality of the soul not because there is reason to do so, but because we just don't want to find out about it. I suspect that it can be detected, understood, and even affected by the proper instruments.
I also read more of Robert Monroe's work, a book entitled Far Journeys, and found it to be as interesting as the first volume. I spent a week at the Monroe Institute in West Virginia, where I learned the methods Monroe has developed for entering the "mind awake/body asleep" state that is most conducive to the out-of-the-body experience. Monroe himself was a delightful and brilliant man, and I found his techniques to be highly effective in taking me into a state of mind where I did access experiences that are very defi­nitely not ordinarily available.
The point of the Institute is not to enable people to induce out-of-the-body travel so much as it is to teach them to reach a state that is open to contact with more energetic levels of being.
When I had my experience in November, I was not in an altered state of mind at all, or at least I couldn't perceive it. I retained not only my ordinary consciousness but also my perceptions of the world around me when I left my body.
I wondered about that cat, though. Was she a dream within a dream? Or was it that cats can also travel about in their plasmic state? Maybe that was why the Egyptians were so obsessed with mummifying cats as well as human beings. Maybe they knew something about cats that we have for­gotten.
During my experience I had a definite but slight weight and a sense of the limits of my "body." I could move by simply wishing to do so. When I wished to touch some­thing, a part of me extended out of my body and I was able to feel just as I normally feel, except that too hard a push

For a subtle reason, the account offered by my corre­spondent was given added credibility. He was unaware that the dialogue he repeated had a tripartite structure familar to me from my own expenence and study of the visitors. It was sometimes as if they actually spoke according to the ancient law of three forces. According to this law the uni­verse if fundamentally divided into a positive and a negative force, and the reconciliation of these forces expresses change into the world. This simple law is a truth of nature. It is friction between opposing forces that causes the light and heat upon which all life is dependent.
I doubt that the witness was aware of the hidden struc­ture in the dialogue he reported. It is not likely that he would have happened to invent it in just that way. The first state­ment, "We are being observed," was a positive expression of a fact. The next, "We must not be seen," expressed its negative implications. The third, "We must leave," recon­ciled the two into a creative action.
He also went on to say that he'd had the feeling in those days that there was something going on in the Olmos Basin, perhaps even something alien living there. He also remem­bered the spot with the creek and the ruined mill. Unlike me and my brother, he was able to find it and took Ed Conroy to see it.
My correspondent's testimony made me wonder about the dream of the dark neighborhood. Perhaps there had been nights when I actually rode that sleeping neighborhood, rac­ing along real streets on a very real bicycle-toward a rendezvous in the Olmos Basin with the visitors. . . and, just maybe, with the other members of the children's circle.
Throughout all of Western folklore there are stories of people flying to meetings with supernatural beings. The-ex­perience was a commonplace of witchcraft, and was be­lieved among the ancients to involve the journey to a meeting with the god Dionysus.
Does it really happen?

It is known that the ancient· Assyrians possessed optical lenses, but even this does not explain their ad­vanced astronomical knowledge. From whom did they learn?

The Babylonians had a pantheon of 'seven planetary gods'. The Hebrew Book of Enoch speaks of 'angels' -' from the 'seven heavens'; each of these 'angels' was in command of 496.000 other 'angels' - or space beings?

(D) At the US Northwestern University, Dr. Frank Brown discovered a correlation between planet cycles 'and plant. as well as animal, metabolic rates.

(E) Neuro-psychiatrist Dr. Leonard Ravitz observed a relationship between the electro-magnetic poten­tial of the human body and solar/lunar cycles.

IN THE FIRST CENTURY A.D. JOSEPHUS DESCRIBED THE UFO' ADVENTURES OF MOSES, CIRCA 1500 B.C.

Let us first define the meaning of the name Moses. and related to his name,' the origin of the alphabet. Moses is an Egyptian name meaning 'Thutmose' or 'Thoth's child'. In Egypt of old, Thoth was known as the god who taught writing, mathematics, geometry, and astronomy. Prob­able confirmation for -this legend is that the alphabet from which over 200 other alphabets are derived. came from the desert region somewhere between Egypt and Babylonia about 3,500 to 4,000 years ago. This apparently explains the story of Thoth, but Sumerian cuneiform dates back about 5,500 years, while the Chinese say the alphabet was 'invented' by the god Tsang Chien who travelled in a 'flying dragon' with 'four eyes' - a space­ship with four circular windows?
Although recorded history dates back only a few thou- /Page 160/ sand years. very archaic legends say that the ancients once recorded all knowledge on 'tablets' of rare metal or crystal; memory units for computers? This system used extensively on Mu and Atlantis. according to legend. was eventually lost to Man and replaced by writing.

Referring again to Moses; during the reign of Rameses II (Osymandias). Moses witnessed many strange sights. One of the most unforgettable incidents in the life of Moses was the probable meeting - or meetings - between himself and cosmic entities. Did Moses see a UFO or -UFOs on Mt. Sinai? (Probably the North Peak of the Jebel Musa Range on the Sinai Peninsula.)

A fasinating and accurate account of the first and a later visit of Moses to Mt. Sinai. is in the Works of Josephus; the account of the first visit of Moses to Mt. Sinai, (from Antiquities of the Jews. Books 1- VL Chapter Xll), - states in part:

'And here it was. that a wonderful prodigy appeared to Moses: for a fire seized upon a thornbush, yet did its green luxuriance continue intact, nor did the flame consume the bush, though the flame was great and fierce. Moses was frightened at this strange sight, but was still more astonished when the fire uttered a voice and called to him by name, and spoke to him, and told him how bold he had been in venturing to a place where no man had ever come before, because the place was divine; and advised him to remove as far as possible from the flame. and to be contented with what he had seen ... '

Did the bush not catch fire due to a glowing UFO, and not to an actual flame? Why did the 'angel' advise Moses 'to remove as far as possible from the flame, and to be contented with what he had seen .. .'

Was there danger of physical injury from the 'force­fieId' of a UFO? There are twentieth-century reports of radiation danger, and of people burned by approaching too close to landed UFOs.

When 'the fire uttered a voice', was it, in reality, a spaceman speaking to Moses electronically through a loudspeaker on the UFO?

A later visit of Moses to Mt. Sinai is described in Chapter V of Antiquities of the Jews; the Hebrews were awaiting the return of Moses with an 'oracle':

'So they passed the days in this feasting, and on the third day, before the sun rose, a cloud* spread itself over the whole camp of the Hebrews, such as none had ever before seen, and encompassed the place where they had pitched their tents: and while. the rest of the sky was clear, there came strong winds, that raised up large showers of rain, which became a mighty tempest. There was also such lightning as was terrible to those who saw, and thunderbolts hurled down declared God's gracious presence and favours to Moses. Now as to these circumstances everyone of my readers may think as he pleases, but I am obliged to relate this history as it is described in the sacred books. What they saw and heard frightened the Hebrews terribly, for it was such as they were not accustomed to; and then the rumour that was prevalent, that God frequented that mountain, greatly awed their minds, so they sorrowfully confined themselves within their tents, supposing that Moses was destroyed by the divine wrath, and expecting the same for themselves.

'As they were under these apprehensions, Moses appeared majestic and in great elation. His appearance freed them from their fear, and suggested better hopes of what was to come .... '

SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF EXTRA­TERRESTRIAL LIFE

Dr. Hermann Oberth, internationally-known rocket pioneer and space authority,

UFO lecturer, and head of the US CALTECH Laboratories until 1955, said:

'We cannot take 'all the credit for our record advancements in certain scientific fields alone,' we have been helped!'

When asked by whom, he replied: 'The people of other worlds!'

This chapter, devoted mainly to scientific discoveries relating to extra-terrestrial life, plus other disclosures of a scientific and historical nature, further prove that space beings have been visiting Earth since antiquity.

Dr. Rainer Berger, a chemist at the Convair Scientific Research Laboratory in San Diego, simulated conditions which apparently exist in space. By freezing a methane, ammonia, and water admixture to a specified sub-zero temperature, then exposing the frozen synthesis to a ton stream for 200 seconds in a cyclotron, he obtained acetamide acetone, and urea, the basic building blocks of organic matter.

A proton is a positively charged unit in the nucleus of every atom; in space cosmic radiation is comprised of 85 per cent protons. Dr. Berger's experiment indicated that organic matter is being produced in space under similar conditions.

More than 23 outer-space molecules associated with life-forms have been detected since 1968; the most recent are thioformaldehyde, acetformaldehyde, and formaldimine, detected by scientists at Parkes.

After probing the heavens for years to locate chemical molecules associated with life-forms, US radio-astronemers made some interesting discoveries. The first was of a deep-space combination of hydrogen and oxygen /Page 235/ atoms - hydroxyl. In December 1968 University of California radio-astronomers announced the discovery of ammonia in the interstellar hydrogen clouds. and in February 1969. the discovery of water.

In March 1969, scientists operating the 42-m-diameter radio-telescope at NRAO announced the discovery of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, a colourless acrid gas. or an organic substance found in the chlororophyll cells of plants, is 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom bonded to carbon. or H.CHO. Only methane has not been discovered due to its molecular structure, which cannot be detected by radio-telescopes. But methane almost certainly exists in outer space and it is chemically related to formaldehyde.

In 1952. graduate student Stanley Miller at the University of Chicago. succeeded in producing amino acids ­ essential components of protein structure - in an atmosphere of methane, ammonia. hydrogen and water bombarded with electricity for seven days.

Dr. David Buhl of NRAO said that nine significant formaldehyde areas in space were probably the early processes of formation for nine future civilizations. (Or future homes for reincarmiting souls when their own solar systems had decayed or come to an end?)

In August 1970 Professor Zdenek Kopal of Manchester University announced that astronomers were watching for the first time, new planets forming around the giant star Epsilon Aurigae. 20 times the size of our sun. Will this new planetary system 5.000 light years from Earth. eventually support intelligent beings?

Also in 1970, the Rome meetings of the International Astronomical Union told astronomers that recent discoveries of discreet sources of X-ray protons may date back to early in the birth of the physical universe. (But we still don't know how the first material hydrogen atoms or atom came into existence from nothing!)
